Ash is a notorious playboy. Despite not taking his job
too seriously, he knows the city inside-out,
and his maverick methods are mostly tolerated.

He is one of the rare people not prejudiced
towards variant humans, and it seems he has been
friends with Hal and Maia since they were young.

Since the Professor was murdered,
Airi has been spotted across Astrum Close,
always in a researcher's lab coat.

She claims to be Professor Rumford's assistant,
but doesn't have a residence permit.

Airi has been seen on numerous occasions looking for something
in the vicinity of the Professor's house and the Research Institute.
She is keenly intelligent. Even the Administration Bureau
doesn't fully grasp the extent of her activities.

Director-General of the Administration Bureau,
and Hal's superior. Three years ago she gave
amnesiac Hal the goal of becoming a Supervisor.

Elaine is calm and rational,
even in the most trying circumstances.
As such, she is widely admired by the
Supervisors under her command.

She is utterly committed to the preserving
the city's collective mental well-being,
and is extremely sensitive to minute changes in the system.

Elaine was seen arguing with Professor Rumford
on the night of his murder.

A traveler from one of the eastern cities.
Keith had come to Astrum Close to visit Professor Rumford.

Detached and elusive, Keith is an eccentric character,
always on the road in search of ancient relics.
He is well-informed and has close ties to
representatives of the various cities across the world.

As a result of his connections, the Administration Bureau
has identified him as a person of interest
and is conducting background checks.

Professor Rumford had been giving shelter to variant humans
who faced persecution all over the world.

His public image as an upstanding character
was at odds with the dark truth of his professional life.
He performed experiments on the variants under his protection,
and was viewed as dangerous by many of the other cities.

In Astrum Close, where all potential crimes should, in theory,
be predictable and preventable, Professor Rumford
was murdered by an unknown assailant.

Lily is there to assist him during the course of his investigation.

Lily was initially Maia's companion,
